GUWAHATI: The DimaHasao Autonomous Council, which set up its own pavilion for the first time at the International Guwahati
Trade Fair here, has received huge appreciation. During the 19-day
trade extravaganza, the pavilion witnessed visits by many renowned
dignitaries.
With a strong contingent headed by the
department of tourism, district information & public relations
(DIPR), forest, handlooms, handicrafts, district museum and organic food
products, the team not only surpassed the expectations of the local
people, but were also able to crack investment deals with many national
as well as international investors.
Deepak Nath, an officer from the sericulture department said he is very happy that the fair was extended because of the overwhelming response. He added that the department has prospective orders of approximately 5 tonnes of silk cocoons for cultivation from a Bangalore-based firm. He firmly believes that such a massive exposure has indeed been possible as a result of the strength and support showered upon them by the organizer Industries and Trade Fair Association of Assam (ITFAA).
N Buragohain, another officer, said, "We are very grateful for the opportunity provided to us and are also very happy with the extension provided as we will get a chance to meet more potential clients from Thailand, Bangladesh and Nepal."
